Description

VERY AFFORDABLY PRICED with FOUR BEDROOMS and a LARGE FENCED YARD for your kids and their dog. A character filled two story house with an Updated Kitchen, a Dining Room, a Living Room and other rooms to be used as you see fit. There is a private SHADY DECK right off the kitchen, a large detached TWO CAR GARAGE and this home is in a great location. Exceptionally good value for the money and it's literally the Oldest Privately Owned House in the city at 141 years old. Tucked away under a canopy of MATURE TREES in a park like setting at the end of a quiet riverside street is this very historic Family Home. It is located right across from the very secluded Hargrave Park. It's within walking distance to the river, local restaurants and shops, downtown. According to City records this home was built in 1880 !! The railway reportedly arrived in Medicine Hat 3 years later on May 31 1883. The well known and well preserved Ewart-Duggan house was built 7 years later in 1887. This home was originally built by Robert McCutcheon who was a very prominent member of the N.W.M.P., the sheriff for 22 years and the name sake of Medicine Hat's scenic McCutcheon Drive so yes, there is a lot of history included with this one. In 1913 the surrounding estate that the house sat on was converted from livestock and horse stables to The Brookwood Auto Camp. Because cars were a new thing, a group of cabins were built and available for rent by motorists coming down the Trans Canda Highway which is now 3rd Street. The nearby & newly constructed Finlay Bridge was the only way the public could cross the river. By 1955 the new Trans Canada Highway bridge was constructed near the power house so traffic to the guest cabins had lessened and the Auto Camp was removed and the site was turned into a mobile home park. Eventually this was made into a bareland condominium and the lots were sold off to the mobile home owners. That is why today, this house is inside of the Brookwood Condominium Corp. If you are looking for a quiet home where your neighbours cannot have junky yards, kids or dogs, this home is the one for you. Very affordable, move in ready. Quick possession. Make sure to book a showing.
